FREEZING POINT OF AQUEOUS ENGINE COOLANT (AUTOMATIC) – ASTM 1177 / JIS K 2234 / IS 5759

This test method covers the determination of the dropping point of lubricating grease. A sample of lubricating grease contained in a cup suspended in a test tube is heated in an oil bath at a prescribed rate. The temperature at which material falls from the hole in the bottom of the cup is averaged with the temperature of the oil bath and recorded as the dropping point of the grease.

APPARATUS CONSISTS OF :

Cryogenic bath	jacketed bath, continuous stirring
Cooling assembly	Insulated copper tubing, CFC free refrigerant, air exhaust, compressor, etc.
Test tube assembly	Borosilicate tubes, stoppers with holes, RTD sensor, coil type steel wire stirring. Controlled mechabized stirring assembly.
Frame work	Sturdy framework, ground mounted.
Control panel	Digital temperature indicator cum controller, precise temperature recording.
Data logger with software	Time v/s temperature relation, direct plotted graph to determine the freezing point.
Recommended spares	Thermometer ASTM 2C, personal computer, printer, test tubes, stirrers, etc.
