COKING TENDENCY OF OIL – FTMS 791B – 3462

The apparatus is used to determine the tendency of finished oil to form coke with it is in contact with the surfaces at elevated temperatures for short period. The oil is splashed on hot test panels for specified time and weight of coke deposited is measured. The test apparatus is as per FTM 791B 3462 standard specification and is suitable as a screening test prior to performing engine test.
APPARATUS CONSIST OF :
Splash chamber | SS mfg., mounting brackets, sliding baffle plate, oil splasher shaft, Oil reservoir, etc. |
Holding assembly | Panel holding assembly, panel holder, clamps, electric heater, etc. |
Oil splasher | Eight equally spaced rows of wires, triangular pitch tapered at end, drive motor, etc. |
Heating assemblies | Two assemblies, plate type for test panel, coil type for oil sump, separate control. |
Control panel | Variable heating control, digital temperature indicator cum controller, digital display. |
Recommended spares | Standard thermometer, Aluminiam test panels, SS test panels, etc. |
