Thermal Stability of Hydraulic Oils – ASTM D 2070 / IS 11656

This test is intended to measure the thermal stability of hydraulic oils. Copper and steel rods are placed together in the oil which is heated to 135°C for one week. Total sludge in mg/100 ml oil, and viscosity changes are reported. (Also the condition of the metal specimens is reported according to the Cincinnati Milacron color chart.)


APPARATUS CONSIST OF :
Test fixture Aluminium made designed and manufactured as per test standard.
Griffin beakers Beakers of 250 ml capacity are used to conduct the test.
Electric gravity oven Used to maintain the test temperature.
Catalyst rods Electrolyte Copper & Steel (1% Carbon) rods.
Control panel PID type, digital temperature indicator cum controller, set point, time totalizer.
Power supply Electrical supply switches: 2 Nos. 220/240 V, 15 amp, 1 phase.
