Existent Gum is the evaporation residue of aviation fuels and other volatile distillates without any further treatment or discarded washings with heptanes. A measured quantity of fuel is evaporated under controlled conditions of temperature and flow of air or steam. For aviation gasoline and aviation turbine fuel, the resulting residue is weighed and reported as milligrams per 100 ml. For motor gasoline, the residue is weighed before and after extracting with heptanes and the results reported as milligrams per 100 ml.


APPARATUS CONSIST OF :
Existent gum bath Rectangular solid aluminium block, outer body MS powder
coated, band heaters, 5 wells.
Air / steam supply Flow meter indicator, filter system with tubing, pressure gauge,
flow indicator, valve, etc.
Test beakers Borosilicate mfg., beaker with graduated cylinders,
specifications as per the standards.
Air jet adopters Removable air jet adopters with tapering arrangement with
500 microns copper screen.
Steam generator Electrically operated steel, water feeding pump, pressure safety
valve, continuous working.
Control panel Variable heating control, digital temperature indicator cum
controller, digital display.
Recommended spares Stop watches, thermometers ASTM 3C, glass dedicator,
SS forceps, etc.
