The test apparatus is used for the evaluation of the ability of inhibited mineral oils, particularly steam- turbine oils, to aid in preventing the rusting of ferrous parts should water become mixed with the oil. This apparatus is also used for testing other oils and allied products. Basically mixture of 300 ml of the oil under test is stirred with 30 ml of distilled water or synthetic sea water, as required, at specified temperature with a cylindrical steel test rod completely immersed therein for specified time and result is plotted accordingly.

APPARATUS CONSIST OF :

Heating bath	The constant temperature liquid bath SS / MS mfg. accommodate 4 / 6 / 8 nos. beakers.
Driving assembly	Driving belt, electric motor, speed upto 1800 RPM, safety cover.
Stirring assembly	Test beakers & covers, T’ shaped stirrers, SS mfg., assembly in inverted ‘T’ format as per test standard. Borosilicate Glass beaker, covers dimensions as per the standard.
Control Panel	PID type, digital temperature indicator cum controller, set point, continuous display.
Recommended spares	The ASTM test specimen with specimen holder as per standard. ASTM 18C / 21C Thermometers. Silicon carbide abrasive cloths/emery paper : 150 grit / 240 grit / 280 grit.
